Sources in the PTI, privy to the developments regarding the expected inclusions from the North Punjab city, told this correspondent on Wednesday that members of the Piracha, Qureshi, Lak, Jaspal, Kalyar, Midyana and Lahri families will join Imran’s party on January 22 in separate public meetings.
They informed that Ehsan-ul-Haq Piracha, former federal finance minister along with his brother, Inam Piracha, ex-tehsil nazim Sargodha and their group would announce joining the PTI during a public meeting. The Piracha family was formerly affiliated with the PPP and PML-Q, as the Ehsan Piracha was federal minister in Benazir Bhutto’s government, while Inam was tehsil nazim of PML-Q while Mazhar Qureshi, who lost bye-polls to Shafqat Baloch of PML-N from NA-68, would also joining the PTI. Qureshi is the brother of former FIA officer, Zafar Qureshi and federal secretary, Ismael Quresh.
Another notable of a political family is Mehr Muhammad Yar Lak, younger son of veteran political figure, Mehr Khudad Lak, former senator will also join the PTI. The elder brother of Muhammad Yar, Mehr Khaliq Yar Lak contested general elections from NA-65 and lost to Ghias Mela of PML-Q by a narrow margin.
Mehr Khudad Lak, once believed as a supreme commander of politics of the Sargodha division politics being close to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, General Zia-ul-Haq and Benazir Bhutto still enjoys considerable influence in Sargodha’s politics.
With the inclusion of Muhammad Yar Lak in PTI on January 22, the chances of his elder brother, Khaliq Lak joining hands with Imran become stronger. Jaspals of Saalam, a town falls in the jurisdiction of Sargodha in the leadership of Muhammad Khan Jaspal, former provincial minister will join Imran during PTI chief’s upcoming visit to district Sargodha.
While, Asghar Kalyar, a close relative of PML-N leader Haji Ashraf Kalyar from Silaanwali, another town of Sargodha will join the PTI, besides Asghar Larhi, member of another notable political family from Silaanwali on January 22. Member of another known political family, Allah Buksh Midyana from Midranjaha, a close relative of former PPP MP, Aslam Midyana would among the new arrivals in PTI from district Sargodha.
Sources further informed that talks were also underway with Hiraj family of Khanewal (South Punjab) including Raza Hayat Hiraj and his younger brother and party’s high command was hopeful about their joining soon.
They added that Sheikh Waqas Akram, a PML-Q leader from Jhang was also in the contact list of the party and dialogue with him was also in process and he could join the PTI before the Hirajs.
Meanwhile, according to PTI sources, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, party’s vice chairman met with notable political figures of Sindh including Sardar Saleem Jan Mazari and Maqbool Sheikh to invite them for joining hands with the PTI. They added that there were strong possibilities of Mazari and Sheikh’s joining hands with Imran in the near future along with their supporters
